And the guy's name is John, not Barry!

This NPR Story (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=5618417) has the details. I don't think he's working through a POD, and he does have a storefront -- but if he can charge $40 — $70 for a shirt, we should think about our prices, too.

The story has some good tips, too.

That works only for him.

Thus, in your case, if you can setup a jungle-forest themed shop(with real trees and leaves, like in a forest trail walk with animals, or maybe real bears parading the shirts) and you sell your shirts by hanging them on the branches of trees, then you can charge your shirts at US$80++, because that way, you've a very valid and super-strong theme to back you up.

With online shops, even if you've super-cool designs, it's not going to give you a strong reason to charge a shirt for US$70++.

OMG Acasa_Ltd , did you see this shirt (http://www.yellowman.com/p/M707-J03SHI0102/Men%27s+Death+and+Violence+Tattoo+T-shirt.html) he is selling also.

His designs are wonderful but really who would spend 2 to 3 hundred dollars on a shirt - Not Me!

The artwork is pretty impressive. I pop in from time to time just to see what is new. I know, I could never bring myself to take out the loan I would have to get for that shirt!:)
I guess, someone does!
As far as I know, they are the only ones doing this type of shirt. Be Original, Be Different. It works.

That's nothing, pal. You can find that kind of shirts in punk stalls or black markets in Asian countries. You can find all kinds of cool designs on that scale, including tigers or other Eastern-centric beasts.
Paying that price for a shirt is crazy unless you're Bill Gates or Paris Hilton.

On the other hand, it depends on the branding too. Japan has this shirt brand called "Bathing Ape" aimed at the undeground / non-mainstream pub-goers and hip clubbers.
One shirt can cost anything from US$300 and above.
In my opinion, though, it's crappy and crazy. It's mad.

Good day,
Xeon.

It is crazy -- or worse. I find it hard to think about paying the prices I mark shirts up to ($5-7).

But some people pay it ... and you don't have to sell many $70 shirts to have a profitable day. I'd hate to see their credit card statements!

I'm not going to mark my shirts up $50 ... but it is something to think about.
