View Full Version : Section Image Size Problem

Sorry for posting this twice but I think it might be a bug.
We're now able to use section images that are up to ... 300 pixels x 300 pixels. When I try to use one that is 150 wide x 300 pixels long .. it says it's invalid and won't accept it. Those are the measurments of the images I'm using, I'm not trying to force a resizing. The images just keep getting set back to 75 x 150. I can't figure out why it wants them half size, but at least it's keeping the correct ratio. As it turns out, the smaller size looks better, but the editor can't know that. LOL

Sassy,
After you upload the image click edit section info and change the image width to 300. We resize all images used for section images to 150 pixels wide by default. (keeping the image's proportion)
Could you explain what you mean about the image being invalid? Are you not able to upload the image at all?

The images I'm using as section headers have already been uploaded, named, and tagged.
Here's a BIG screen-shot of what I am seeing. This is happening using both IE6 and Firefox 1.5, with a PC. The upper image is what I see before I attempt to edit. The lower half is what I see when I attempt to edit. When I click *save changes* it reverts back to the upper image, and keeps my section graphic at the 75 x 150 size. Even though the actual size of the images are 150 x 300. It's reducing their size automatically.

This is the store I am editing:

Sassy,
Well that is definitely a bug. I'm assuming it has something to do with the PPI of the image, although for section images I think we should be able to remove that constraint, or at least relax it a bit. I'll keep you updated.

The images are being reduced by 50% as I upload them. What is causing that?
edit: ignore this, it's just when I *view* the image straight off PF it shows up as half size.
Here's the stats for each image:
Type: PNG Design: 107452 Date Uploaded: 02/13/2007 Size: 0.5" x 1" at 300ppi

Remind me not to debug problems before actually looking at the source of the problem! I'll have this fixed for our next update. Hopefully we'll get this published this coming weekend, although I can't say for sure.

Thanks Kevin! For this store I'm not worried, the section headers look better at the smaller size. Maybe the software just knew that. :D

It's doing it again, only this time it's refusing the main store header. I'm setting up a new store and I just finished testing all the graphics and code in my testing store. All went well and looked fine. Then I began installing the graphics and code in the new store and it's giving me this message when I attempt to change the size of the main store header:
Invalid logo width! Your store logo must be less than 590 pixels wide.
Actual image size: 760 x 100
I'm uploading as a GIF and it's being swapped out for a 72 ppi JPG.
Following the same routine as I have with other stores.
This is the info from my image basket:
Type: JPG Design: 108035
Date Uploaded: 02/14/2007
Size: 10.56" x 1.39" at 72ppi

Part 2 -
When I installed all the code and got all the settings as I wanted them, then I went back to work with the store header and it installed as it should this time. Not sure if the order you install things has anything to do with it or not.
